We begin with a beautiful story.

We are honored to have Fang-yi Cheng kick off the Healing Stories Project with live storytelling, sharing her personal parenting story of love, challenge, and surprising gifts. Paul McAndrew, PT and Feldenkrais practitioner, will share his perspective of partnering with Fang-yi as a care provider to her daughter Annie.

Crafting and telling stories from our life experience can be powerfully healing.

Storytelling offers discovery of new insight, unexpected resolution of difficult feelings, and wisdom to share with others. Creating a narrative is an opportunity for reflection; often the process reveals transformation. We may find we see our experience differently—suffering might become redemptive; loss may uncover unknown capacities of love and support; diagnoses can lose power in light of meaningful new perspectives. Telling stories about the meaning found in challenges can kindle community and inspiration for others on similar journeys. For a wonderful taste of live storytelling, check out The Moth Radio Hour.

Discovering and sharing our own stories of kindness, tenacity, resilience, wisdom, courage, foolishness, power, compassion, and humor is at the heart of the Healing Stories Project.

We are just beginning. Sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of the page to stay tuned for information about how you can join us on our empowering, community-building, storytelling journey!

After nourishment, shelter, and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.
